ISO-22400-2 OEE Formulas

Availability APT / PBT

Actual Production Time (APT) divided by Planned Busy Time (PBT).

  • APT (Operating Time): Ref Time - Planned Down - Setup - Breakdowns
  • PBT (Loading Time): Ref Time - Planned Down Time
ISO Note: Indicates how strongly the capacity of a work unit for the production is used in relation to the available capacity. Also called degree of utilization or capacity factor.
Performance (Effectiveness) (PRI × PQ) / APT

Planned Runtime per Item (PRI) multiplied by Produced Quantity (PQ), divided by Actual Production Time (APT).

  • PRI: Ideal Cycle Time
  • PQ: Total Parts Produced
  • APT: Operating Time (See Availability)
ISO Note: Indicates how effective a work unit will be during the production time. PRI is also known as cycle time.
Quality Ratio GQ / PQ

Good Quantity (GQ) divided by Produced Quantity (PQ).

  • GQ: Finished Goods (Usable Parts)
  • PQ: Total Parts Produced
ISO Note: This indicator is usable as a real-time indicator for the operator level.
OEE Index = Availability × Performance × Quality

Mathematically, the variables cancel out and this simplifies directly to VOT / LT (Valued Operating Time divided by Loading Time).
